//TOKYO_Q4::DAY1
HELLO EVERYNYAN !!!
As usual, I'm back in Japan... very surprising...
I've been there last June with a friend, but this October I'm in Tokyo for 2 weeks with my
boyfriend this time.
I thought it would be cool to write about what I do, see, eat and find while I'm there, as I get a lot of messages on social media asking me about these things. So here I am, unveiling all my secrets...
Airport Time...
As usual, the flight is always the most painful part
We got two middle seats so we were basically held hostage between two people who IMMEDIATELY
fell asleep right after take-off... seriously, who gets an isle seat just to sleep for
the entire flight ? Isn't it annoying to get woken up by a stranger all the time ?
But besides that, the flight was an uneventful 10 hours. We arrived in Tokyo late at night,
which is my favorite technique to avoid the jetlag. Since I can never manage to sleep in the
plane, I just go to bed immediately when arriving at my destination, and wake up feeling
rested & refreshed the next morning ! Try that technique next time and you'll thank me, if
you do a lot of things during the day you'll be
tired enough to go to bed at 10pm again and no more jetlag !
Hatsune Miku even welcomed us...
The First Outing
Started off my first morning with my FAVORITE breakfast... AKA... Japanese Denny's
I'm
not joking about Denny's in Japan... the french toasts are SO good and only 500 yen for
a plate, I'm a platinum member with the Denny's loyalty
program LOL
Here's the outfit of the day !
I put on a full angel-themed outfit, with an angel wings hoodie, angel wings pants and angel
wings hairclips too ! I don't care if it's too much, I HAD to have everything matching
Next, let's go to Shibuya 109 ! I was looking for colored
contact lenses specifically and usually Shibuya 109 has a few stores dedicated to that. I
ended up finding the perfect ones ! On
the left side I'm wearing the colored contact and on the right, nothing. I think it ends up
looking pretty damn natural while still enlarging my eyes a little bit.
In the basement of Shibuya 109, I noticed some purikura machines
! If you know anything about purikura machines, you know they tend
to deform the fuck out of your face and apply the HEAVIEST beauty filters to your face, to
the point where you're unrecognizable and look honestly slightly scary... So I was excited
when I saw a photobooth that advertised a "natural look"/"no filters" option... I thought
finally I wouldn't look over-edited on my pictures !
Unfortunately... I think I got ROBBED
When setting up the photobooth, they indeed asked me "Which level of retouching would you like?", I could select between "No retouching", "Light retouching" and "Regular retouching". I selected "No retouching" and... I'm not even kidding I was literally turned into a completely different person ! You'll be the judge of that "No retouching" result...
Yeah, "No Retouching" / "No Filters" MY ASS lmao.. I look
like a fucking demon
Don't get me wrong, the pictures still look fun but they would
have looked better if I looked slightly less creepy LOL
Later, I also got some adorable angel-themed keychains to display my fav polaroids/pics ! And a transparent Nintendo Bag that I regretted not buying last June... this one is from the official Nintendo store inside of the Shibuya PARCO. Speaking of...
Shibuya PARCO
We decided to go to Shibuya PARCO, upon entering the Shibuya PARCO mall, we actually found a super cool cyber-themed art exhibition. Specifically, this LED panel artwork by Yuto Imaeda. The story behind the artwork says that the artist took snippets of everyday conversations and street signs, transforming them into poetry to be displayed on LED boards, bringing out the quiet emotions hidden in daily language.
The text on the upper screen says :
干からびて死にゆく魚海水と同じ濃度の涙をたらす A fish dries up and dies, its tears as salty as the sea.
And on the lower screen :
公園の鉄棒だけが冬を持ちきみの重心まだ覚えてる The park's bar holds winter, it still remembers your center of gravity.
But dozens of quotes were scrolling on the LED screen as time went by, along with some videos on the other screens. I stood there watching for a while, it was quite mesmerizing. There were other artworks displayed through the mall, which I missed but you can see them through the dedicated website.
I originally wanted to go to Shibuya Parco to check out the RADIO EVA store that sells streetwear inspired by Evangelion (as you may know, it's my favorite anime of all time). Unfortunately, I didn't find anything I liked there, as most of the items were neon-colored and not really my style. However, I got stopped dead in my tracks in front of the Jose Moon store, which had an Evangelion collab on display ! I ended up buying this super cool piercings Rei t-shirt :
We also checked out the Nintendo Store (where I got the transparent bag in the previous pics) and tried to get into the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure cafe, but we found out you needed a ticket to get in, but the tickets are only sold with a lottery system. We're not big enough fans to go through the hassle so we just moved on LOL. At that point the 10k footsteps caught up to us and we were super tired so we decided to go back to the hotel, pick up a few things at the konbini for dinner and go to bed early.
Thank you for following me on this first day & first blog
post about my Tokyo Trip, more blog posts to come for the other days of my trip, stay tuned !
